Business Improvement through People

Groundwork South Tyneside & Newcastle's success
in Business Improvement through People

Groundwork South Tyneside and Newcastle successfully gained Investors In People (IIP) and achieved the panel's endorsement on 13 November 2008.
Every member of this Trust contributes in some way or another to its success ans this award is a tangible recognition of how hard we work to deliver the vision which drives us.
A record of our achievement will be displayed in our reception area. Andrew Watts and Becky Harvey will accept the trophy at a ceremony to be held in March 2009.

Our assessor, Pauline Wild made some of the following comments about the key strengths and areas of good practice within the Trust:
"The Trust has a clear purpose and vision. Everyone understands where they fit within the organisation, the purpose of their role and the part they play in achieving the organisation's aims and objectives. This is aided by everyone being able to contribute or comment on their individual, team and project targets. There is a strong ethos of teamwork, with everyone committed to the success of the organisation.

Employees are happy, confident, enthusiastic and well motivated. Many staff commented on the level of trust between staff and management and the level of autonomy granted to them and how, as a consequence, they felt empowered. In addition, there was some evidence that the organisation is supporting people to achieve a good work life balance. Many staff observed that the organisation was like a family.”

Finally, although Groundwork South Tyneside & Newcastle met the Investors in People standards, which have been adopted and firmly embedded, there are areas in the report that provide for our continuous improvement. A big ‘thank you’ and well done to everyone for the part that you play in the continuing success of our Trust.
