Education
Due to the nature of our work this academic year we have decided not to send out hard copies of our Environmental Education Pack. Instead the pack is available by clicking on the link below.
Education Pack 08/09
Since March 2008, West Boldon Environmental Education Centre (WBEEC) has been closed due to major engineering works taking place on the National Grid Substation site. WBEEC is a partnership between Groundwork South Tyneside and Newcastle and National Grid. The staff would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has visited and supported the Centre over the past 10 years, both as pupils and members of the public, and we hope that you will continue to utilise our facilities in the future.
When the Centre is re-launched during late Spring 2009, we will be able to welcome visitors into our new sustainable building, kindly donated by National Grid. We hope that this will be a new and exciting era for WBEEC and in re-launching ourselves we would like to promote the Centre not just as an educational resource for school groups but as a resource that everyone in the local community can access and gain some enjoyment from.
As we eagerly await the development of our new Environmental Education Centre at our West Boldon site, we are currently running our education programmes as outreach sessions at various schools and sites throughout South Tyneside.
We are also offering a number of family learning courses which are free of charge to most residents of South Tyneside. Courses include arts and crafts, circus skills, family cookery and Monkeying Around (music and dance). We can arrange a course for a specific group which is suitable for their needs. Courses can be delivered in school. For more information please call us.
The Education Team are currently based at Groundwork South Tyneside and Newcastle’s Head Office, The Eco Centre in Hebburn. We can still be contacted on 0191 536 4873 and in addition on the Eco Centres number 0191 428 1144 or by e mail to westboldon.4seasons@pop3.hiway.co.uk.
We hope to see you soon,
